Most of our members know the local Woodentots Montessori Schools established in 1989, and their dedicated, inspiring founder, Paula.
Striving to reconnect children with nature by combining Montessori with Forest School philosophies, Paula has been encouraging her staff to promote child–led creativity and imaginative play within the Montessori curriculum from the very beginning.
An approach that paid off and earned all schools not only an 'Outstanding' Ofsted report but also highest respect and popularity in the local community as well as Paula herself the 'Montessorian of the Year' award in 2017.
So you will be pleased to hear about this welcome addition:
'Woodentots Hive' launches in January 2020 presenting a welcoming, supportive environment for parent and child Montessori classes. It offers treasure baskets for babies, as well as bread making, sensory play and other activities stimulating creativity.
The purpose built classroom is fully equipped with beautiful, wooden Montessori and Steiner materials.
Each session follows a rhythm of child led exploration, a hearty community snack of soup and bread ending with The Woodentots ‘candle time‘ with songs.
Classes are capped at 12 to ensure a non overstimulating and calm environment.
As the Woodentots Hive evolves so will the sessions where much loved Ginny Bradley from Mindful Storytelling and Caroline Chan from Mini Beats will visit to add their talents and expertise.
There will also be enrichment talks on Montessori in the home as well as courses for parents, teachers and nannies.
