About
Mothers Rise Up! We have just 11 years to act to prevent climate breakdown. The time to act is NOW!
We stand in solidarity with the #youthclimatestrikes but we can’t leave it to the children to fix this mess.
JOIN US: Sunday 12 May, 12 noon, Hyde Park Corner for a #MothersClimateMarch
We will come together and rise as a maternal force to be reckoned with. With pushchairs and song, we will march from Hyde Park Corner to Parliament Square and demand that our government take immediate, drastic action for a just transition to a sustainable way of life.
We will hold a powerful ceremony of speeches and song and together begin to forge a future worthy of our children. Bring decorated pushchairs (empty or occupied), your children's paintings, banners, your incredible voice, creativity and energy.
This is for the mother who knows climate change is personal. For the mother who can't hold her children tight enough when she thinks of their future. This is for the mother who has had enough of feeling helpless. For the mother who can bear the inaction of our government no longer. This is for the mother who may have never marched before, but whose feet are already moving. This is your march!
There is nothing more powerful than a mother’s instinct to protect her child!
But this is not just for Mums! We welcome anyone who is moved by love for a child and by love for our planet to protest: grandmothers, aunties, child-minders, friends; those yet to have children, those who can’t and those who have chosen not to. Equally, we welcome the support of fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers and friends. We all make a difference. We are all custodians of our threatened home.
We would love help in creating, organising or promoting this event in the UK and globally, so please spread the word and get in touch: mothersriseup@gmail.com #MothersRiseUp
95 countries celebrate Mothers' Day on 12 May. Many of those are in the global South, where people are already suffering and dying as a result of climate chaos. By marching on this significant date we will show our solidarity and create an opportunity to make this event INTERNATIONAL!
We welcome ideas and contacts to help bring Mothers together in other countries. Let's reach out and unite across the globe.
