FRIDA KAHLO / ACRYLIC SELF PORTRAITS

The now iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo has taught us an incredible amount on the power of self-portraits and symbolism. The Little London Artists will aim to build a colourful and well thought out portrait of themselves using object and ideas that reflect their personalities. Serena will guide the children through the challenge of drawing and painting a recognisable face by breaking the process into steps which are achievable, imaginative and fun. Drawing together these techniques, each little artist will paint and take home a unique and subjective portrait developing fine art skills through the use of professional acrylic paint and multiple artistic processes. Attendees will be asked to bring an object/toy/souvenir from home which they feel will make a perfect symbol for their portrait!

Sunday 19th January  /  10.30am to 12.30pm

£15 per child

ALEXANDER CALDER / ABSTRACT PAPER MOBILES

The birth of Abstract Art is a ground breaking learning curve for any young artist to build and develop their creative talents! Artists like Kandinsky and Calder will bring the children on a light journey into their powerful imagination. In this workshop, Serena will introduce our little artists to Abstract Expressionism and Alexander Calder’s approach to kinetic art. We’ll look at Calder’s mobiles which are some playful sculptures in motion. After working off this inspiration, we begin to bring the ideas to life using wire, unusual shapes with paper and more to shape a beautiful composition they can hang with pride!

Sunday 2nd February  /  10.30am to 12.30pm

£15 per child

GIUSEPPE ARCIMBOLDO / FRUIT FACES

In this mesmerising fine art class, drawn from the audacious and enchanting work of Arcimboldo, students will learn how to draw profiles and emotional facial expressions through all the dynamic possibilities with fruit and vegetables! Using chunky charcoal, pencils and markers, the little artists will wander into a vibrant natural dimension, being able to express their inner world through emotionally arranged still life objects. Collage and acrylic paint will be the protagonists of the final great masterpiece. Serena will encourage the young attendees to study the complex nature of the fruit and vegetable to determine how it can remarkably resemble features of our face!

Sunday 16th of February  /  10.30am to 12.30pm

£15 per child

PABLO PICASSO / COLLAGE AND CUBISM

Drawing inspiration from the most famous artist in the world, we delve into a variety of Picasso’s art including early periods, the cubist era and his involvement with the creation of collage! We will start our exploration of cubism with interactive sketching games based on these different periods of Picasso’s works. We will continue our journey by using creative contemporary collage and photographs from magazines and newspapers to investigate cubist composition and form. By manipulating the collage with paint and mixed media, children will use this process as inspiration to create a cubist masterpiece of their very own.

Sunday 1st of March  /  10.30am to 12.30pm

£15 per child

Any new family attending will also receive one of our shop discount cards of 15% off that they can use anytime on products in store! (cannot apply to workshops or framing orders)

All Workshops are held on site in our shop at 132 Finchley Road, NW3 5HS.

We hope you are as thrilled as we are with the following sessions, we can’t wait to begin!!
