About

For the first time in a decade Tate's exhibition will bring together the largest group of Van Gogh paintings on show in the UK.

The EY Exhibition: Van Gogh and Britain will include over 45 works by the artist from public and private collections around the world including many favorites such as his Self-Portrait 1889 from the National Gallery of Art, Washington, Starry Night on the Rhône 1888 from the Musée d’Orsay, Paris, and the rarely loaned Sunflowers 1888 from the National Gallery, London.

Van Gogh was born in the Netherlands, but travelled across Europe. He went to France, Belgium and England. When he was in London between 1873 and 1876, he was inspired by the art he saw including works by John Constable and John Everett Millais as well as British writers from William Shakespeare to Christina Rossetti and Charles Dickens.

The tour involves discussion, drawing and sticking in our unique activity book designed especially for this exhibition.

For Who?

Museum Trips are designed to be enjoyed by children 5-11 years old. We can not accept any younger children to participate in our events because the length of the tour and activities involved might not be suitable.

How?

Museum Trips are designed for your child to participate independently and don't require parental supervision. Adults can arrange to visit the exhibition by booking their ticket directly from the museum.

The Tour

Our guided tours are 2 hours long (2-4pm) and involve art activities, discussion and other tasks. Each child receives a bespoke activity book filled with tasks, challenges and information about the artist. All art materials and supply are provided by our dedicated staff. The tour is delivered to small groups of up to 5 children with the support of 2 educators. This allows all children to get involved and receive individual attention.

Children’s safety

All of our educators and volunteers hold an Enhanced DBS check.
