About
A dazzling installation of Wizarding World Wands will illuminate Leicester Square to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the film first premiered in Leicester Square in 2001.
The installation shows nine towering wands belonging to nine beloved characters from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films as they line the entrance to the gardens. The wands join the existing bronze Harry Potter statue as part of the Scenes in the Square trail. The 15ft wands will add a touch of magic to Leicester Square lighting up the gardens between 6pm and 8.35pm from 13 October to 25 October, an enchanting display to light up the autumn months. Regular light shows will take place on scheduled days, set to iconic music from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beastsscores, set to captivate visitors.
The wands will form part of Inside Out Festival – a brand new, free festival produced by Westminster City Council and partners, that brings art, entertainment, and culture outdoors to the streets of Westminster, and will run until the end of October.
Exciting news coincides, as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone the very first film to kick off the franchise, will be commemorating the release of the film as it returns to cinemas in Leicester Square and across the UK and Ireland from 29 October.
