Woburn House to Winehouse - Jewish Camden

Illustrated talk about the Jewish associations and history in Camden

Time & Location

Feb 15, 2022, 6:00 PM

Camden Town, Camden Town, London, UK

About

In this illustrated talk, Rachel Kolsky, prize-wining Blue Badge Guide and author of the guidebook Jewish London, explores Jewish associations within the Borough of Camden, from the birthplace of Britain’s only Jewish born Prime Minister to the last home of iconic musician Amy Winehouse, from Anglo-Jewry’s unofficial HQ on Tavistock Square to the Jews’ Free School. In particular she looks at the story of the 1930s refugees including paperwork at Bloomsbury House, schnitzel at the Cosmo Cafe, a new community at Belsize Square, a Pink Rabbit and the Freuds.

The talk lasts fifty minutes and will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions and to share your own Jewish-themed memories of Camden.
